P.S. The two stars are for the good service.
When we're in the area we typically eat here every morning for breakfast. Staff is very friendly and the food is good and affordable. I really like their special coffee blend with cinnamon too. Their [wedding] cakes and cinnamon rolls have to be the best in the Keys, although i haven't tried everyone's.
Let's start with the bright side: service was good and the waitress was nice and made sure to take care of us. However, if you like good coffee and food, do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. I usually don't leave much feedback about places I go to but this time it felt necessary because I read some misleading comments about this restaurant from other people. The men's bathroom isn't super clean (which says something about how clean the kitchen would be) and is falling apart. The prices aren't reflective of any quality; the quality actually is pretty mediocre and the way it is made is sloppy and lacking any real flavor. Coffee was probably the worst I've ever tasted; I'd describe it as black, warm water with somewhat bitter taste.. it shouldn't be called coffee in my opinion, it's something else. This is in no way a personal negative feedback, as a matter of fact I support small businesses and local shops that's why we didn't go to McDonald's, Starbucks or any other chain restaurant to get coffee/breakfast. My comments are meant as an honest feedback about my experience; I hope the restaurant's management/owner would consider it as a constructive input and act upon it.
Gloria, Kim, and Rachel are friendly and professional. Good value and good tasting Breakfasts. Locals and Tourists rub elbows for a cheerful atmosphere. I suggest that you give it a try. Watch out for the pastry counter you will feel like you are in heaven. A good variety of tasty treats.
DONT EAT HERE!!! Food sucked but service was great to be honest & lady at the counter & waiter were nice but she talked really rude to me just because I didn’t leave a tip. She said at tab payout, “you can leave a tip if you’d like” & then asked, “why are you not going to leave a tip?” I responded back with, “because I....” she cut me off with, “if you’re going to dine out and not tip then you shouldn’t go out to eat!” I just stood there in disbelief...I mean it is my option to leave a tip or not. I don’t have to if I don’t want to. But she really insisted me to leave a tip. I walked out on her as she said something about them working for $5...if that was what she said then why isn’t it posted on the front door or something. I would’ve known and never ate there if that was the case. I’m not saying I don’t ever tip my waiters but this ignorant lady had the urge to disrespect someone who honestly didn’t enjoy his first time at the restaurant. I would’ve probably given this place a second chance and maybe have it a different rating and thought about this restaurant but after that. Honestly....DONT EAT HERE. These lady’s act nice until you leave....THIS DOESNT DESERVE 1 STAR EITHER...
Very good place for all day breakfast and lunch! Fresh baked goods every day. Professional cakes. Breakfast was amazing, we had the Blue Crab Eggs Benedict! Will definitely be making this a regular stop!
